Our Offboarding Checklist

​We have seen organisations invest heavily in onboarding- luxurious welcome boxes, celebratory posts, and thoughtful processes. However, we do not see many organisations supporting offboarding operations. There was a time when offboarding was not much discussed, and most organisations refused to discuss it. But increasingly, organisations view it as a win-back strategy, a chance to create a better working environment for future employees. Consequently, organisations need to schedule time for offboarding conversations with departing employees. Our consultants have developed a checklist to help organisations cope with offboarding.
The checklist has three types of actions: short-term, medium-term, and long-term.
 
Short-term actions:
· Facilitating a two-way dialogue that helps employees leave on good terms
· Setting up formal exit interviews
· Keeping track of equipment returns and other logistical issues associated with leaving.
· Communicating employee achievements company-wide
· Organising proper farewells
 
Medium-term actions:
· Actioning on the feedback collected during exit interviews
· Gathering information about new hires' career goals
 
Long-term actions:
· Establishing strategic pillars around talent lifecycle management
· Fostering a positive relationship with past and present employees
