Introducing ev charging policy in the workplace

The number of EV owners is growing in Australia and around the world. With electric vehicles here to stay, companies must emphasise their environmental sensitivity, conscientiousness, and forward-looking nature. Companies can do this by installing EV charging stations in their car parks. It will encourage employees to use EVs to work and empower them to hold the same values as their employers. Adding charging stations to company buildings is convenient for employees as it allows them to charge their EV while parking and shows the company’s care for their worker’s experience.

Companies need to have an EV Charging Policy that outlines the planning requirements, pricing structure, PEV (plug-in electric vehicles) access, etc. Continue reading below to learn the contents of the EV Charging Policy:
  1. Installing workplace charging- This section should indicate the type of charger- level 1 or level 2, their benefits, and the number of charging stations.
  2. Managing workplace charging- This section should include access to charging stations, prioritisation rules, enforcement and security, registration and liability, and station sharing.
  3. Pricing options- This section should highlight whether the company will charge employees for accessing stations. For example, provide free charging for up to four hours and charge after that. Thus, a proper fee structure must be laid out.
  4. Other guidelines- This section should include basic guidelines that EV owners must follow when accessing charging facilities at the workplace.
