Artificial intelligence aims to eliminate repetitive tasks as its use grows. In today's workplaces, this applies as well. As a result, there is a considerable risk of automation occurring in areas such as human resources within the next 5 to 10 years.

Within HR, less complex but highly repetitive roles are bound to get automated. A few examples would be the HR helpdesk, the HR officer, the HR Administrator, the Payroll Administrator, and the Compensation and Benefits Manager. Even though a few of these roles are highly specialised, they can be augmented by technology over time.
How will HR roles be transformed?
A few of these roles are highly specialised, but they can be augmented by technology. For example, Chatbots and AI-powered assistants are the alternatives for positions such as HR help desk and HR officer. These tools have been enhanced in recent years to improve their knowledge. For example, they can answer candidate questions during recruitment and assist new hires during onboarding.

For roles such as HR Administrator and Payroll Administrator, AI can significantly reduce the time required to complete HR processes by automating workflows and streamlining documents. AI can also centralise all employee data and run reports without human input.

What HR needs to do
The HR workforce must up-skill itself to remain competitive against AI. This should include identifying transferable skills for new roles similar to Human Resources. Thus, HR must continually evolve, re-skill, and stay updated with the latest developments. They must be more agile and aligned to develop strategic skills.
